Our Lady of the Magnificat in Kinnelon raised $2,500.00 for a “Clean Water Project” with the intentions of providing clean water for those who do not have access to it. It is unthinkable that in todays world of advanced technology there are still places in this world that do not have the basic provision of life giving water. On September 12th, 2015. Judy Sladky, a representative from Heifer International, accepted a check from Msgr. Carroll to support “the gift of clean water” and ‘livestock” to villages around the world where clean water is unavailable. It is not unusual for Heifer’s work to include drilling boreholes, digging wells, or helping to set up filtration systems where water is scarce. Heifer International partners with other nonprofit groups that can bring the knowledge and experience to communities to help them tap into clean abundant water sources and therefore eliminate the need to rely on unsafe river water. Heifer International’s mission has been to end hunger, thirst and poverty around the world for over 70 years. They also provide livestock, safe environmental and sound agricultural training to improve the lives of those who struggle daily for food and clean water. They work to provide a healthier environment for all people regardless of race or religion. Our Lady of the Magnificat Community hopes to play a small part in improving the lives of families in Rwanda with this $2,500.00 donation. Heifer International currently has a specific project in Rwanda which includes providing clean water, livestock, and education. A heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to all our Faith Sharing Groups, Bible Groups, Rosary Group, RCIA group, Ladies Guild, Knights of Columbus and all who donated to this worthy project. Together you made this gift possible, together you have made this world a kinder place to live !
