"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female. 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. 'So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (Mark:10:6-9)
Congratulations on your decision to get married! Marriage is a Sacrament in the Catholic Church. Your wedding is not only a very special day for the two of you but it is also a sacred event for the entire Church, and we want to be part of your celebration.
We hope that the time of your engagement has been filled with happiness. We want to help you prepare not just for your wedding day but for your entire married life.
Couples wishing to enter the Sacrament of Marriage should consult with the Priest at least one year prior to their wedding. Our parish holds Pre-Cana sessions twice a year, usually in February and September, as a formal preparation program prior to marriage. Additional dates are available at other local parishes; call the rectory for further information. The sessions are held on a Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ending with a special mass. Please call the Rectory 973-838-6838 to book the church or chapel for your special day and to make an appointment with one of the Priests.
May your preparation and the wedding celebration itself be a new beginning that will be a grace-filled lifelong commitment!
*Our Parish LIFE SKILLS team is composed of married couples who help prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Marriage. Volunteer couples are welcome!
