All Souls Day Masses, which we call A Blessing of Memories, are at 8:15 am in the chapel and at 7:30 pm in the church. You may bring a small picture of your deceased loved one to be placed on a table near the altar during Mass with a lighted candle. All Souls envelopes may be placed either in the box so marked in the narthex or in the second collection this Sunday. They will be prayed for at all Masses during November.
This past May, after years of study, ten men were ordained to the priesthood for our Diocese. As they prepared for their vocation, they were supported by family and friends. When you make a pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, they are also supported by you since Appeal funds are used to help meet the cost of priestly formation and education. Please support our seminarians by making a pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal today. For your convenience, you can make an online gift at www.2016appeal.org. Also, envelopes for this purpose are available on a table in the narthex or ask one of the clergy.

Each year, our Cherub Choir leads the singing at our 4:00 Mass on Christmas Eve. This choir is made up of children who are enrolled in grades 1, 2 and 3 in our religious education program, or parish children who are enrolled in area Catholic schools. Rehearsals commence on Thursday, November 3rd from 4:30-5:15, and continue each Thursday until Christmas, with the exception of November 10th (teacher’s convention) and November 24 (Thanksgiving Day). If your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grader is a singer, this is their ministry. This is their way to serve their Church community. Plus, it is a good way for them to learn the traditional Christmas carols of our faith, such as Silent Night and Joy to the World, and perhaps pass them along to other family members. If you would like your singer to participate in the Cherub Choir, and you have not done so already, please contact Michael Pierce by e-mail ([email protected]) or phone and leave a message (973-838-2029). He will get back to you promptly.

Father Richard Rento, 58 years a priest of this diocese, has written a book entitled IT’S NOT NECESSARILY SO. A SENIOR PRIEST SEPARATES FAITH FROM FICTION AND MAKES SENSE OF BELIEF. In everyday language, Father Rento offers a fresh look at matters of Catholic belief and morality, assuring his readers that their own conscience-based thinking on these issues is well founded and does not brand them as “bad Catholics.” Are you seeking peace? Then read this book - Available on Amazon.
October 8th & 9th - A representative from Several Sources will speak at the Masses and ask for your financial assistance. We (You & I) can help save the life of a child. Jesus said of children, “Their angels do behold the Face of God in heaven daily.” Can you be a child’s earthly Guardian Angel? Please assist with our work. Kathy DiFiore, Founder
As the new school year starts a gentle reminder to everyone that our school facility is shared with the Shepard School and we need to be respectful of their exclusive use of the school building Monday – Friday 8am until 4pm. The only access permitted during the school day should be associated with the Religious Education office via ringing the bell at the front door. No one should be entering the building for any other reasons. Please call the Religious Ed office or the Rectory to arrange your visit and ensure someone is there to greet you. Also, be mindful that the refrigerators and freezers in the kitchen are shared as well and we should only be using OLM food related products. Lastly, no one should be entering the school building at any time without previously scheduling the visit with the Parish office. Thank you for your cooperation.
