Sunday, May 15th - On May 14th, Omar Hernandez will be ordained a Transitional Deacon. He will then be “Deacon Omar”. His Mass of Thanksgiving will be at OLM on May 15th at the 11am, picnic lunch will follow. Saturday, June 4th, 4pm Mass will be the celebration of Msgr. Carroll’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood and his 25th as Pastor of OLM (NOTE: There is no 5pm Mass). A dinner reception will follow. Sunday, June 12th, at the 11am Mass, Fr. Henry will celebrate his 60th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. A lunch reception will follow.

Our Religious Education leadership team has requested a technology upgrade for both the Confirmation and the K-8 CCD programs. The request is for the following: • 5 laptop computers, • 3 monitor/DVD set-ups • 2 portable projectors • Desktop upgrades for the leadership team We have already received three commitments which total $7,600 towards the projected cost of $18,530. Would anyone in the parish be interested in sponsoring part of or the remaining costs of this project? This could be pledged over 3 years or any way the donor(s) would like to do it. The Men’s Group of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish (155 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ) is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Motorcycle Blessing to benefit Good Counsel Homes on Saturday, May 7th @ 10:00am. Fr. Paul will be providing individual blessings for all riders in the OLGC parking lot. A suggested donation of $20 will support the Good Counsel Home Warming Program. Registration begins at 9:45am and all participants should contact Kevin Bulger at kjbulger1@aol.com to pre-register.

Omar Hernandez, our seminarian, will be ordained a Transitional Deacon on Sat. morning, May 14TH at St. Peter’s Church, Parsippany by Bishop Serratelli. He will officiate as a Deacon for the first time at all the parish Masses that weekend beginning with the 5pm Mass on May 14TH. A parish celebration is being planned by the Knights of Columbus after the 11am Mass on Sunday, May 15TH -- More information to follow.
A transitional deacon, as opposed to a permanent deacon, is someone who is transitioning to priesthood instead of remaining and serving permanently as a deacon.
First, how do you like the 8-page bulletin? For July and August it will return to 6-pages, but let us know your reaction to the longer one. Also, if you see something that doesn’t look right to you, for example a light hanging loose or paint peeling or spiders around the kneelers etc. please let one of the Priests or an usher know about it. Make sure it gets written down or if you could please write it down when you give it to us. Thank you!
We have two tables from OLM Parish attending the Catholic Family & Community Services (CFCS) benefit at the Brownstone on Wednesday, April 20. Doors open at 6pm and dinner is at 7pm.
