July marks the beginning of the fiscal year for the parish. Based on our current forecast, we will end the year with a deficit of approximately $12,000 in the collections. Any help you can provide this week to lesson our shortfall would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your continuing support.
A special thank you to all the volunteers who helped to serve at Eva’s Kitchen on Sunday, June 12: Tom Black, Mary Smith, Barbara McGill-Rudolph, Stefania Masi, and Kenny Mertz. Also, thank you to all the volunteers who cooked the chicken casserole which fed approximately 160 homeless guests at Eva’s.
If you have not registered your child or children for Religious Education/CCD for the September 2016 school year, you need to do so IMMEDIATELY. Please see website for registration forms and fees or call the Rel. Ed. office.
We are in need of catechists for the Sunday evening and Monday afternoon Religious Education Program. Sunday evenings meet just two times a month, from 6:30-8:30; and Monday afternoon meetings weekly from 4:30-5:45. Please consider this rewarding ministry. For more information contact Mary at dre@olmchurch.org to discuss further.
If you have been praying to St. Anthony for something you have lost, please look on the table in the narthex. We have a number of items that have been left behind. If they are not claimed we will put them into the house of hope. Thank you!
Last Sunday’s celebration was a very beautiful and moving experience and I want to thank everyone who made it possible. So many of you went out of your way sending notes with heartfelt messages and words of greeting to congratulate me and wish me well and to thank me for being part of this parish. So this is my turn to say ‘thank you’ to all of you for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity at this phase of my life to celebrate with you. A special word of thanks to those who were able to be here to participate, and to those who made the entire day possible. And a very special thanks to the Ladies Guild who saw to it that we were all so well-fed and cared for all day. They did a flawless job of handling a sizable crowd and did it with gracefulness and such good taste. Many visitors who came for the occasion commented to me about the beauty of this church, the quality of the choir and it’s music and the spirituality, joy and prayerfulness of the congregation. We may take these things for granted but they are truly special. So thank you for being an extraordinary parish and inviting me to be part of it. Liturgically, last Sunday was called the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time, but this was no ordinary celebration. It was truly extraordinary and I still feel the glow…I’ve been on Cloud 9 ever since and I think I’ll stay there.
A huge thank you to all who participated as golfers, sponsors and boosters! We had a wonderful day with loads of laughs and good cheer. This may be the most successful golf event ever sponsored here at OLM.....don't miss out next year!
Parish office summer hours are as follows: Monday – Thursday – 8:30 to 5pm Friday – 8:30 to 4pm Saturday – 9am to 4pm The bulletin will return to its 6-page format for the summer months as religious education, confirmation and parish ministries enjoy the summer season and communications are lighter. We will return to the 8-page bulletin when we gear up for fall activities. Thank you for understanding.
Dear Parishioners, Thank you for all you did for the celebration of my 50 years as a priest. I loved the Liturgy with the combined choirs, over 20 visiting priests and Bishop Rodimer and a full church of worshipers. The reception which followed for 680 of my relatives and friends from several parishes was extraordinary and memorable. From the parking of the cars to the last person to leave, a good time was had by all. Thank you to those who gave me gifts, sent well wishes and cards for another 50 years. I shall never forget this day nor those who worked to make it so special. In return, you will all have a special remembrance in my Masses and prayers as I carry you in my heart for the rest of my natural life. Sincerely, Msgr. Carroll
Congratulations to Fr. Henry Schreitmueller as he celebrates his 60th anniversary of Priesthood. We extend to him, his family and friends, our prayerful best wishes for a very, very happy anniversary. His sister, Betty Rutan, from Clearwater, FL as well as other family members and friends were here to celebrate with him.
June 24 is 4 Get Me Not Sunday. Children will be out of school and unable to receive their free lunches so the needs of families for food at the Catholic Charities Father English Food Pantry will increase. Carlos, head of the pantry, said vegetables, pasta and soups are low. Your donations will help these families stretch their meager food budgets. Thank you for your continued generosity!
Please keep in mind that during the months, when school is not in session, the children in Paterson still need to eat. You continued support of our food drives even during the summer months is really needed. They will thank you for doing so!
To all those parishioners who have graduated or are graduating from elementary, secondary schools and college. We extend our best wishes for the future.
Next Sunday, Fr. Henry will celebrate his 60th anniversary of Priesthood with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 11am, followed by luncheon in the auditorium. We extend to him, his family and friends, our prayerful best wishes for a very happy anniversary. His sister, Betty Rutan, from Clearwater, FL will celebrate with him.
Today, Msgr. Carroll, family and friends gather to celebrate his 50th year as Priest and his 25th year as Pastor of OLM. Congratulations Msgr. Carroll and God bless you! With love, the Staff and Parish Family of Our Lady of the Magnificat!
