We need volunteers to conduct the liturgy of the Word for children during the 9am Mass on Sunday. Please either sign up on the sheet on the table in the narthex or email Katy Schrope at [email protected] for more information.

Everyone should feel welcome at Mass whether you have been coming for years or a new parishioner or even if you are late. Eucharistic ministers, lectors, clergy and ushers are in the narthex before Mass to greet newcomers and guests as well as answer any questions

Fr. Ligory Philips of the Diocese of Ramanathapuramm, India will be here this weekend to speak at all the Masses on behalf of his Diocese. Please welcome him and be as generous as you can in the 2nd collection. Thank you!

In observance of Labor Day, Sept. 5, the parish office will be closed next Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Parents, you should have received a letter with your child’s admission to class slip. If you have not received these please contact the Religious Education office, [email protected]. Grades 1-5 - Classes begin on Sept. 25 and 26, Sunday and Monday. Sunday classes – students should attend 9am Mass with your family and then come over to the school for classes to begin at 10:15 and end at 11:30am. Monday classes run from 4:30-5:45pm. Grades 6-8, Sunday classes start on Oct. 2 from 6:30-8:30pm and Monday classes start Oct. 3, from 7-8:30pm. Catechists/Teachers: Catechist meeting dates are listed below. Meetings will be held in the school library. If you have received your teacher’s manual please bring it with you. Grades 6-8 Meeting. - Monday, Sept. 12, 7-8:30pm. Grades 1-5 meeting – Tuesday, Sept. 13, 7:15-8:30pm.

If you have not yet completed the Protecting God’s Children paperwork, please do so immediately and return it to the Religious Ed office. Come to a Wed. bible study class in September to discuss this question about Jesus’ teaching and to read the book, “Politically Incorrect Jesus”. Class starts Sept 14th at 12;45 pm in the Ryan Rm. If interested please call Mary Jane Hojell at 973-714-5544.

Fr. Henry is in California until August 25th, and Deacon Omar will be in Columbia until September 9th. Pray that Fr. Lukasz gets his papers so that he is able to visit with his parents in Poland.

Fr. Carroll, who is Dean of this area, is looking for a couple, or two people, to represent the parishes deanery on the Diocesan Pastoral Council. Not much time is required since there are only four meetings per year. If interested, or for more information, please call Fr. Carroll at 973-713-3746.

This Sunday is 4-Get-Me-Not weekend. Your generous response to the requirements of the Food Pantry this summer has been so appreciated. Still, the daily needs of the clients who depend on us continue. Please help meet them again with donations of non-perishable food this weekend.

Thank you to those who have registered their children for Religious Education for the upcoming school year. If you have not yet registered, please do so immediately. Go to the website, www.olmchurch.org and download the forms. We are in great need of 3 catechists for grades 2 and 3 on Monday afternoons, 4:30-5:45. Please consider sharing your faith with our little ones. You’ll get so much out of this experience. It’s a wonderful ministry to join. Contact Mary at [email protected].

This Mon., Aug. 15 is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. This year the feast day is not a holy day of obligation because it falls on a Monday. Mass will be offered at 8:15am in the Chapel.

To all who would like to volunteer to cook for Eva’s Kitchen, please pick up a pan with the recipe and instructions today after Mass. Please check off or add your name to the list provided to indicate you took a pan and will be cooking for our Sunday, August 28th commitment. Thank you, Kathy & Joe Gravino

At its last meeting, the Knights of Columbus Council #14493 named Michael Pistorio its first Knight of the Year.

John Ramsden has volunteered to serve as coordinator for our participation in the annual Crop Walk which is held on the last Sunday of October at St. Joseph Church in Lincoln Park, NJ. See more about the walk in September issues.
