Thank you very much for your financial support of this year’s RISE mission trip. Seventeen teens & five adults from Kinnelon traveled to Friendship, NY. Some of the work was to replace a roof for a family of 6, replace windows for an elderly couple and widen a doorway for a single man confined to a wheelchair who hadn’t left his home in 5 years! When he rode down the ramp to get his mail for the first time by himself, neighbors and teens/staff applauded him. It validated everything that RISE stands for. The generosity of OLM and lots of prayers made this year’s trip possible. In only 7 days, countless lives were changed forever, including ours. On behalf of this year’s RISE participants, our sincere thanks. May God bless your generous hearts. Patrice Leavenworth
Olive-wood handcrafted from the Holy Land will be on sale at OLM on Sept. 24/25. Please support local Catholic artisans in the Holy Land who depend on the income generated from this art form. Christians’ presence in the Holy Land has extended from the Pentecost to the present. Sixty-five years ago Christians represented more than 28% of the population and now we represent less than 2%.

Be Rich in Good Works As you consider your pledge to the 2016 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, it is important to know that the Partners in Faith campaign conducted in 2013 and the Bishop’s Annual Appeal are different drives serving different needs. The Partners in Faith campaign raised funds for ministries outside the Diocese’s general operating funds and included some endowments with an eye toward future needs. The bishop’s Annual Appeal, on the other hand, helps fund immediate day-to-day operations of four important ministries and programs: Catholic charities, seminarian education, our diocesan priests’ retirement residence and our inner-city schools. With this in mind please be as generous as possible to this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal. If you have received the Bishop’s letter, please prayerfully respond today.
