June is the end of the fiscal year for the Regional Food Bank, so food received is reduced this month. Donations of non-perishable food are needed more than ever. The Catholic Charities Fr. English Food Pantry is most grateful to OLM parishioners.
The OLM Bible Study Group, with the generous assistance of Rob Rizzo, has planted a Purple Leaf Plum Tree in honor of Walter (recently deceased) and Nancy Huber. The inscription on the plaque reads as follows: "In appreciation of their dedicated service to Our Lady of the Magnificat Parish and the poor." The tree is located on the lawn next to the Walter Huber House of Hope on the south side of the Chapel parking area. Take a moment to stop by and appreciate the beauty of this tree and reflect on how grateful we are for all that Walter and Nancy have done
To all the Fathers in the parish, we extend our congratulations and appreciation for all you do for your families. May God our Father, continue to bless you and keep you in His loving care. Happy Father’s Day!
Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of the Magnificat, On behalf of the parish community of St. Anthony of Padua in Passaic, we would like to THANK YOU for your generosity and prayers. You welcomed us to sell raffles at your parish to raise funds for our church ceiling repairs, which collapsed the morning of Holy Thursday. We received $1,000 in raffle sales from OLM. The total amount collected for the raffle, drawn on June 4th, was $10,755. This would not have been possible without your support. Fr. Edgar Rivera and the parish community of St. Anthony, thank you for your support and kindness.
One of our fellow parishioners (Neill family) is in need of financial aid. To help support this family in need, John and Mary Ramsden have started a fundraising campaign. Nick has a medical condition (Pseudotumor Cerebri) and Jim, Nick's father, suffered a debilitating stroke in 2015 which has left him unable to work. Chrisse, Nick's mother, has since quit her job in order to care for Nick and Jim. Please consider donating to this family by clicking the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/nicholas-neill-medical-assistance
The 45th Annual Msgr. John Ryan golf outing was a huge success. Thank you to all who supported the event – golfers, sponsors, golf committee and volunteers who worked at the outing and those who prayed for good weather. There are too many people to name individually, but you all made this year’s outing a memorable and successful day.
Sister Nancy Chiarello and staff from The Dwelling Place of NY will be visiting OLM on the weekend of June 17 – 18th to seek your support for their ministry to homeless women. During 2017, The Dwelling Place is celebrating its 40th anniversary, 40 Years on 40th Street, offering women in great need safe shelter and supportive services while they rebuild their lives and make a fresh start. A second collection will be taken up after each Mass for the benefit of the women being served. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
4 Get Me Not Weekend is June 24-25. Because June is the end of the fiscal year for the Regional Food Bank, food received from this source is reduced. Our donations of non-perishable food will really help, more than ever, to fill some of the shelves. At the Catholic Charities Fr. English Food Pantry, OLM parishioners are considered special friends, for which they are most thankful.
To all those parishioners who have graduated or are graduating from elementary, secondary schools and college. We extend our best wishes and blessings for your future path.
Many thanks to both our Senior and Junior choirs for participating in the annual Kinnelon Borough Memorial Day ceremonies. Their singing brought a true sense of beauty and dignity to the proceedings.
Today ends the Junior Choir season. We thank them for leading our 9:00 Mass in song. We look forward to having them return in September. Any singers who are enrolled in grades 4-8 are welcome and encouraged to join.
The commitment for OLM is Sat., June 17th. Anyone wishing to volunteer to cook please take a pan/recipe and add your name to the volunteer list found on a table in the narthex. Please drop off your frozen casserole at OLM parking lot between 8:30-8:45am on Sat., June 17th. God Bless! For any questions please call - Kathy/Joe Gravino at 973-830-0559.
Our results from the Do it for Jesus Program were encouraging. Almost 30% of the parishioners who gave to the Sunday offertory in the last year made a commitment for the next year. We also had 26 families newly identify themselves as active supporters of our church. Overall, the commitments reflect a 67% increase in the offertory over previous donations from those that responded with a commitment card. Please – it is important that parishioners maintain these commitments throughout the year, so that our church is able to continue its mission.
