Dear OLM Parishioners: As some of you might be aware, I serve as a member of the Chilton Medical Center Advisory Board. I am reaching out to you on behalf of the health care professionals, who are very concerned about the Delta variant of Covid-19. To that end, we are encouraging everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible. Research is showing the vaccines are protective against the variant and will serve to bring us to the herd immunity that we need. Some might be anxious about the effects of the vaccine, unfortunately which has been fueled by unscientific misinformation. Therefore, I have asked some of our parishioners who are nurses to offer to speak with anyone who has concerns. Via this bulletin notice, I am also asking any medical professionals in the parish who would like to participate in speaking to parishioners who have questions/concerns about the vaccine. If you would like to serve in this information ministry please contact me or call the parish office with your name and contact information. Covid-19 is a global health crisis and we can rely only on competent medical professionals for advice. Mere “opinion” is unhelpful and dangerous. Please help to protect yourself, your family and the community. Blessings, Fr. Ed
