Carlos Roldan at the Fr. English Food Pantry was again grateful for the food and checks we delivered from OLM this morning. He told us that the pantry is distributing 1,000 bags of food every day. They deliver bags to shut in seniors and homeless families in local motels, in addition to the clients lined up on the sidewalk outside the building. We were told that normally the pantry helped 7,000 families a month, but it has swelled to 11,000. The reality of that was evident by the line of people stretching around the block waiting to received a bag of food.
As we brought the food into the pantry, we also became aware that the supply of food on the shelves was thinning.
Carlos regards OLM as one of the special parishes he relies on. Next Sunday is 4 Get Me Not weekend. Would you please remind parishioners to make a donation of food or money to this growing need in our diocese.
Bill and Ellen Sharkey
Please continue to bring any food you can to the Parish House so that we can continue to "feed the flock" in Paterson. Thank you for your continued support!

Good morning. Some folks have been asking when we are opening the church back up for live Masses. Unfortunately, we have not been given a date for when we can open. We are in constant contact with the Diocese of Paterson, who in turn, are working with the state on reopening plans. We will continue to share Masses on line and will be here for you as soon as possible. Stay safe, stay healthy and God Bless. Fr. Steve

Happy Cinco De Mayo! We thought you would enjoy a little behind the scenes view of our production of Sunday Masses. Please check out these photos to see some of the setup we go through to bring you our weekly services.

We delivered the donated food, cash, and $1,700 in checks, which included $1000 from OLM Knights and $500 from the Ladies Guild . to the Fr. English Food Pantry this morning (MONDAY). Carlos Roldan couldn't have been more appreciative. He has been delivering packages of food to elderly, at home clients, in Paterson ,in addition to serving the increasing number of clients that come to the pantry for help feeding their families. As we left, he was on his way to the supermarket with the $200 cash from OLM to buy foods he believed were needed for the packages he would be delivering that day.
OLM will receive a formal letter of thank you from Catholic Charities, but we thought you would appreciate knowing how timely our donations to the pantry were, and how thankful the people at the Pantry are for the checks, cash and food donations.
Thank you for your support in this effort,
Bill and Ellen Sharkey

Today, PBS releases a new documentary of the Vatican offering tantalizing peeks into spaces no tourist can access and revealing the everyday work life for some of the 2,600 people working in the independent city-state.
Filmed during Pope Francis’s fifth year, “Inside the Vatican” is loosely structured around the church calendar and important events: Easter, a papal visit to Ireland, installing new cardinals, preparing for Christmas. It feels a bit like three documentaries: one of workers and who make the Vatican run, one of the clerical leadership, and a closing—and hopeful— section on the sex scandals inside the church.
‘Inside the Vatican’ premieres Tuesday, April 28 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS, PBS.org, and the PBS app.

OLM Family
I wanted to take a moment to again share that you have all been in my thoughts and prayers over these past 5 weeks of social distancing and the closed Parish facilities. While it is a challenging time, we have enjoyed bringing OLM directly to you in your homes via our website and Facebook and I thank you for joining us. We have had incredible numbers of views of our Sunday Masses and all our services during Holy Week. Feedback from many of you is that these presentations have been a blessing and are truly appreciated. In fact, current and former OLM parishioners are partaking and enjoy praying with us.
I would also like to extend a hearty and warm THANK YOU to all of you for your generosity during these trying times. Many of you have signed up for automatic giving and a large majority are sending in their envelopes weekly. This blessing to the Parish ensures that we can continue to keep your staff employed during these difficult times. Your generosity is evident in the Easter collection, which to date has met our budget of $50,000. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Our weekly collections are running at about 60% of budget which is also incredible during this unprecedented time.
As of now, we will continue to deliver Sunday Masses to you via our website and Facebook. I continue to say Mass daily and pray for the intentions identified for each of those Masses. We produce the bulletin each week, which is posted to our website. All key information is updated there, on an as needed basis, and at least weekly. Please continue to visit our website to stay abreast.
Currently, the "shelter at home" guidance has been extended through May 15. We will monitor the situation and take direction from the Diocese on when we can open up our facilities.
May God continue to bless you during these trying times!
Fr. Steve

The shelves at the Fr. English Food Pantry are bare and they are seeing many homeless, senior citizens and shut-ins that are in desperate need of the following items:
Donations of checks (made out to Fr. English Center) or gifts cards are also welcome or direct donation can be made via https://ccpaterson.org/donate - in the comment box indicate that the donation is for Father English. If you would like to contribute food items or gift cards/checks, OLM is asking that parishioners drop off these items in the vestibule of the Rectory and we will transport them to Fr. English. Thank you for your support.

Dear OLM family:
As you know, I am on one of the Chilton Hospital committees. It has come to the attention of hospitals everywhere that people are postponing care for fear of going to the hospital. This can be a great concern, as some conditions become more severe if left untreated.
Please read the latest bulletin from Atlantic Health Care regarding this issue below.

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Arthur J. Serratellii from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Paterson and has named Father Kevin Sweeney, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn as Bishop-elect of Paterson. He will become the Diocese of Paterson’s eighth Bishop.
Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States, publicized the appointment in Washington, D.C. on April 15, 2020.
Bishop Serratelli was installed as the Diocese of Paterson’s seventh bishop on July 6, 2004 and served as Bishop for nearly 16 years.
Bishop-elect Sweeney was born on Jan. 17, 1970 in Elmhurst, Queens and grew up in Whitestone, Queens. His parents, the late James P. Sweeney and the late Agnes Blewitt were both born and raised in County Mayo, Ireland. Agnes came to New York in 1951 and James in 1963. They were married in St. Bartholomew’s Church in Elmhurst, N.Y. in 1967 and moved to Whitestone in 1971.
Bishop-Elect Sweeney attended St.Luke’s Parochial School in Whitestone and Cathedral Preparatory High School in Elmhurst. He graduated from St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1992 and received a master’s degree in Divinity from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, Long Island in 1997. Bishop-Elect Sweeney was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn by the Most Reverend Thomas V. Daily at St. James’ Cathedral on June 28, 1997. He was assigned as Parochial Vicar to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Parish in Jamaica, where he served until June of 2003. He was then assigned to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Corona, where he served for a year. Rev. Sweeney was named as the Vocation Director of the Diocese of Brooklyn by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio in June of 2004. In January 2010, he was named Pastor of St. Michael Parish in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where he continues to serve.
The date of Bishop-elect Sweeney’s episcopal ordination as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Paterson has not been scheduled due to the pandemic. Bishop Serratelli will serve as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Paterson until that time.

Below is a link to a website with special activities available during this Easter season.
"The Holy City" allows you to experience the Old City of Jerusalem during Passover, Easter and Ramadan in one of the most complex volumetric VR Projects produced to date! From your laptop or phone, or using a VR headset, the magic of the city comes alive in spectacular stereo 360 film.
“The Holy City,” a documentary shot in stereoscopic, 360-degree virtual reality, takes viewers to some of Jerusalem’s most important religious events: the Holy Fire ceremony (the Orthodox Easter celebrations at the Holy Sepulchre); Ramadan prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque, and the priestly blessings for Passover at the Western Wall. The documentary consists of footage from the 2019 ceremonies as well as sweeping shots of Jerusalem’s archaeology and architecture.
The video is available on Vimeo*. *The link will be available free of charge from the first day of Passover, through Easter, to the first day of Ramadan – April 9-24.

Welcome to our third week of social distancing and shut down of many of our day to day activities. As we exited the Christmas season, who would have thought this is what our life would be just three months later!
I want to assure you all of our Parish family that we are still here for you and make sure you know I am available to receive any calls for support during this time of isolation, concern and loneliness for many. I can pray with you and can talk anytime.
We have organized a number of online services while we have had to suspend liturgies and other in person gatherings. You can find these on our parish website (www.olmchurch.org) and Facebook page (@olmkinnelon) and the Diocese website (www.rcdop.org) . They include messages from me and Msgr. Carroll, Masses, video messages from Bishop Serratelli, and other parish information.
Next, as we want to be able to keep our services available to our parish community, we ask for your continued support through online giving or by mailing a check. Some parishes are already struggling financially, so we remind you of how important your continued contributions and support are. They are so needed and appreciated.
Lastly, we received word this week from Bishop Serratelli that all buildings should be closed immediately and kept locked until at least April 30. While not ideal, this is necessary to continue with the efforts to flatten the curve via social distancing. Please continue to pray at home for a quick end to this pandemic.
Thank You and God Bless You during these challenging times.

In order to both provide for the safety of the faithful and to attend to your well-being,
I am directing that all of our church buildings and chapels be closed until further notice. Government health officials have indicated that the next two weeks will usher in a virulent spread of the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, Church buildings are not to be open for any period of time during the day or night. Access to all parish buildings is to be strictly limited to staff that are essential for onsite requirements relating to maintenance of the buildings that cannot be delayed. These norms apply to religious houses in the Diocese of Paterson as well.

The shelves at the Fr. English Center are bare. Carlos said he would take either gift cards or checks. He also said donations could be made via https://ccpaterson.org/donate. In the comment box indicate that the donation is for Father English. Carlos said there are a lot of seniors who are afraid to go out and rely on him for delivery. If anyone would like to help him deliver, let Dave Puccia know (973-694-1955) and he will coordinate with Carlos. Understand that the deliveries will be in Paterson and social distancing protocol may be difficult.

In response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, our Holy Father will give an extraordinary
blessing " Urbi et Orbi " (to the city and the world) this FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2020 , at 1:00
p.m. Eastern Time (10 AM Arizona time; 6:00 p.m Rome time). All the faithful and other Christians in our local Church and beyond are invited to participate in the special prayer with Pope Francis , which will
be broadcast by Mondovision and live -streamed on the Vatican News website at
www.vaticannews.va .
The Holy Father will grant to all participants in the live stream a Plenary
Indulgence before imparting the Urbi et Orbi Blessing . A plenary indulgence is an ancient practice of offering indulgences through prayer and penance for the forgiveness of sins.
As Pope Francis has said, "To the pandemic of the virus we want to respond with the universality
of prayer, compassion and tenderness. Let us stay united. Let us make those who are alone and
tested feel our closeness."

Greetings! I hope that everyone had the chance to "attend" Mass this weekend. I want to again thank Fr. Ed and his nephew Craig for helping to videotape the liturgy. We posted the Mass here on our web page and on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/olmkinnelon/) and the Mass was viewed by almost 700 individuals (and more if you viewed it as a family). We have been receiving many wonderful comments and thank you's. Next Sunday's Mass will again be posted on Saturday and ready for your "attendance". In this challenging time this is a great opportunity for us to remain connected as a community.
While Masses have been suspended, it is important for parishioners to understand that the costs of running the Parish continue. The mail continues and bills need to be paid. For those of you using some form of automatic giving, please know that your continued weekly giving is critical during unprecedented times like this. However, we are anticipating significantly lower weekly collections over the next few weeks and maybe longer. We would like to remain fiscally stable and encourage you to consider the following options to help us meet our financial obligations. We realize some of you may have your own financial difficulties, as well, and are asking for whatever support you can give. Here are some things to prayfully consider:
Thank you for keeping OLM in your prayers during these trying times - know that I am praying for each of you daily.

As part of opening up the lines of communication in the parish, you are invited to subscribe to a service called FLOCKNOTE…like sending “notes” to the “flock.” It is totally free for you to use and it is going to make it easy for you to stay plugged in to the activities of the parish via text message. It is something that people of all ages can use as long as you have a cell phone with texting abilities. Please know that your information is completely safe and secure.
FLOCKNOTE is very simple. Text the letters Holy123 to the 5-digit phone number 84576. Make sure your autocorrect on your phone does not mistakenly change the text. Once you send that in, FLOCKNOTE will send you back a confirmation message and a verification code with a link to enter the code. That’s it! Follow the instructions to register.

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You…know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of those of us who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

As events and civil guidelines continue to unfold the following Health and Safety Measures are effective immediately.
Deferral of Baptism
Until further notice all baptisms administered by the ordinary minister of the sacrament within the parish setting are deferred except in case of urgent necessity. Should an urgent necessity arise, the faithful should contact a priest immediately.
Funeral Rites
Because of the impossibility of limiting large gatherings of family and friends for a Funeral Mass, all Funeral Masses are to be discontinued until further notice. The Rite of Committal as established in the Order of Christian Funerals may be used for a graveside service with no more than 8 members of the immediate family present. All are to keep the recommended social distance. The priest is to offer a private Mass for the repose of the soul of the departed. A public Memorial Mass can be arranged for a later date when restrictions on the gathering of large crowds have been lifted.
